- The start date is May 12th.
- 4 volunteers for 3-4 hours per day. For example, we can do 12pm to 3pm or 4pm daily from Monday to Saturday where 2 volunteers can assist on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while the other 2 can assist on Tuesdays and Thursday, and Saturdays (if that works).
- Tasks will be centered around cleaning and sterilizing the existing grow towers and media. Here they will vacuum the media to remove debris and then spray them with an H2O2 solution to sterilize. After that, they will scrub and clean the actual tower and then spray again with an H2O2 solution to sterilize. We will have all cleaning materials and equipment. This particular task will take us approximately 8 weeks to complete at 3 hours per volunteer per day.
- The work will be performed at Borealis Fresh Farms located at 33 Sterling Street East behind the senior complex.
- As for work clothing, they would need safety glasses, water and chemical resistant work shoes or boots, ear protection from constant vac noise, and an apron to prevent them from getting wet during the cleaning process. All else we can provide such as nitrile gloves.
