If working at a response site, health and safety considerations will be outlined prior to the assignment Ideally you have the ability to volunteer during regular hours and/or during non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends), accept an on-call shift rotation and/or respond to unplanned emergency/disaster related requests periodically. Hours will vary by location and frequency of response activity You can identify a preference to respond in your local community and/or outside of your community. In exceptional circumstances, our volunteers may be offered the opportunity to deploy away from home to a large-scale response in their province or in Canada, as required and available, anywhere from 7 to 21 days.

QUALIFICATIONS Possess a valid full provincial Drivers’ licence with a satisfactory driving record. Must have access to a personal vehicle for delivery of meals and must provide proof of vehicle insurance. In some locations a Red Cross fleet vehicle might be made available. This position requires a satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check or alternate. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Key Responsibilities Abide by all policies, procedures and practices including but not limited to vehicle circle checks, mileage and route documentation Drive clients to designated destinations Assist clients to and from vehicle Work with Program Coordinator to ensure that the exterior and interior of vehicles are clean and safe Report any concerns of clients with deteriorating health and/or other needs to the Program Coordinator Complete all required training and attend on-going additional training sessions as needed Report to the Transportation Coordinator for all scheduling and availability Priority Assistance to Transition Home (PATH): Transitioning Patients from Hospital to home with the assistance of a Transitional Care Worker Perform other duties as required
