What is Connected Neighbours?
Across the world, cities and communities are recognizing the importance and need for caring and connected neighbourhood life. The Cochrane District Social Planning Council (CDSPC) believes that more neighbourliness on every block in the city will contribute towards this culture of care and connection, increasing the sense of belonging and inclusion, ultimately leading to a more inclusive and liveable city. Utilizing the strengths and input of local citizens, the CDSPC has developed Connected Neighbours and is working with the Cochrane Timiskaming Volunteer Resource Centre through the United Way Centraide North East. This comprehensive framework for neighbourhood engagement and organization facilitates community building at the block level.
