Who We Are

Who We Are
Through a nation-wide collective effort, volunteers and quilters from across Canada craft full-sized quilts that are sent to Survivors of Residential Schools, Day Schools, and the Sixties Scoop, as well as Survivors of other trauma.

This work is made possible through generous donations that help cover the costs of materials and logistics. Each quilt is a symbol of support, respect, and love.

Mission
To create comfort and support healing through the making and giving of quilts.

Vision
To see that all living Survivors receive a quilt.

What We Do

What We Do
Quilts for Survivors coordinates the creation and distribution of handmade quilts for Survivors of Residential Schools, Day Schools, the Sixties Scoop, and other trauma. Our work is survivor-centred and trauma-informed, ensuring quilts are given with care, respect, and dignity.

We offer a range of hands-on programs and workshops that support skill-building, cultural connection, and community healing, including:

  • Quilt block-making classes

  • Introductory sewing classes

  • Youth workshops for ages 16–29

  • Longarm quilting training

  • Quilt-making from start to finish

  • Star blanket workshops

  • Ribbon skirt workshops

  • Access to specialty sewing and quilting equipment

  • Cultural teachings and knowledge sharing

  • Card-making and creative art workshops

  • Talking circles and community gatherings

  • School tours and educational visits

Through these programs, we create safe, welcoming spaces where Survivors, youth, and community members can learn, create, and heal together.
